The new GST Rates Finder Android App for finding out GST rates has been launched by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday. The Goods and Services Tax(GST) was implemented on 1st July in the Indian Parliament’s Central Hall at midnight.
In the hustle of the new uniform tax regime being implemented all over the country on all goods and services replacing all the other taxes, there is a lot of confusion and queries regarding how much the tax rate has overall been affected. The Goods and Service Tax (GST) will end the harassment and illegal tax practices by the traders and businessmen.
As the name suggests, it can be used to cross verify the amount of GST charged from you on different goods and services. The app has been developed by Central Board of Excise and Custom (CBEC).
The GST Rate Finder app can be downloaded on any Android smartphone. Once downloaded, it can even work in offline mode. By entering the name or chapter heading of the commodity or service, the user can easily determine the GST rate of that particular good or service. It currently is launched only for Android platform, but will soon be available to iOS users as well.
How to download and use GST Rates Finder App
To get this convenient and beneficial application on your Android tablets or smartphones, you can simply go to Google Playstore and search for GST Rates Finder App.
To use this app, simply type the name of the commodity in the search bar and GST Rates Finder app will list all the possibilities of goods and services matching the name you searched for. You can scroll through the list of search results and click on any commodity to get details such as GST rate, description of goods and services and the chapter heading of the Harmonised System of Nomenclature(HSN) no.
There is also an option to search GST Rates on various goods and services sorted by their GST Rates in %age.
This app allows you to search for Central GST(CGST), State GST(SGST) and Union Territory GST (UTGST) applicable on commodities. With this app, no matter where you go, whether to a fancy restaurant or shopping groceries, you can easily cross verify the amount of GST charged from you by the seller.
In order to help taxpayers and keep their eyes open, CBEC has launched GST Rates Finder on its own portal to make people aware of the new tax on their day-to-day consumptions. You can find GST Rates Finder on the CBEC portal.
“These initiatives are aimed to serve as a ready reckoner on GST rates. This will empower not only the taxpayers but every citizen of the nation, to ascertain the correct GST rate on goods and services,” the statement said.
